The seaport city in southwestern India was known to Arabs since the 7th century, 

where spices such as pepper and cloves produced in the region were traded. 

Black pepper was worth more than gold by weight and earned the title black gold. 

The golden object in the center and the physical form of the ash are an homage to the spice trade as well as a visual representation of Bindu Chakra. 

Chakra is Sanskrit means “wheel” or “cycle”. 

Bindu is also Sanskrit, meaning "point", "drop" or "dot", and is the central point in the body 

among many focal points of mental power throughout the body. 

Traditional Indian medicine Ayurveda heals through stimulating the chakras with the fragrance and 

color of amṛta (甘露: nectar) to awaken the senses of the body and spirit. 

Spectators to the exhibition become olfactory observers, 

encountering the fragrance of the object to have their senses and neural passageways awakened and enlightened. 

The video signifies our eternal journey, animated in the phenomenology of fragrance and ambiance that constantly changes and propagates, 

in forms of swirling ocean currents and golden turbulence that break over the landscape of space and earth. 

Fragrance travels through air; colors refract through light, spiriting the body and mind into a deep world of sensory experience.

<황금빛 여정>은 인도 향신료 무역의 중심지였던 코치에 관한 작품이다. 

중앙의 황금빛 오브제와 재의 물리적 형태는 향신료 무역시장의 오마주이며, ‘빈두 차크라(Bindu Chakra)’를 형상화한 것이다. 

차크라(Chakra)는 ‘바퀴’, ‘순환’이라는 뜻의 산스크리트어다. 

‘빈두’는 인체의 여러 곳에 존재하는 정신적 힘의 여러 중심점들 중 에너지가 몸 전체로 퍼지는 중요한 단일 지점이다. 

인도의 전통의학인 아유르베다는 감로의 향과 색으로 차크라를 자극하여 몸과 정신의 감각을 깨운다. 

관객은 향 오브제를 직접 시향하며 감각의 자극을 느끼고, 신경계와 뇌를 통해 감각기관이 진화하는 경험을 하게 된다.

영상은 끊임없이 변화하고 퍼져가는 향과 공기의 현상계에 우주와 지상의 풍경 위에 흩어지는 해류, 

소용돌이치는 황금빛 바람이 애니메이션화되어 ‘영원한 여정’을 의미한다. 

공기를 따라 이동하는 향과 빛에 반사되는 색은 

우리의 육체와 정신을 깊은 감각의 세계로 도달하게 한다.
