Sourcing the past - Minting the present - Shaping the future

« The purpose of art is not the release of a momentary ejection of adrenaline
but is, rather, the gradual, lifelong construction of a state of wonder and serenity. »
Glenn Gould - Pianist (1932 - 1982)

“Art is what is making life more interesting than art.”
Robert Filliou - Artist (1926 - 1987)

CONTEXT AND INTENTION

Time is a dimension that prevails within the transactional dynamics of human life and nature.
In this life, the clock is ticking for every sentient individual endowed with the awareness of its own finitude.
We are living today in the context of a temporal explosion; the exponential acceleration of our present.

The omnipresence of communication systems and real time information, the environmental crisis countdown,
and the fastest extinction of the living diversity on Earth, are all variables which substantially affect our present and
therefore undermine our chances of surviving a future collapse.

By consequence, our era is characterized by the increase of global stress, anxiety, and resentment.
Above all, the Covid pandemic demanded that we learn how to deal with time, distancing, and relationships in an unprecedented way.
Thus, creating a disruption in the pace of our urban, hyper-connected and ubiquitous everyday lives.

By being isolated, now more than ever, human attention has been geared towards the outside world with the use of permanent virtual interactions and dynamics.
Which are all dictated by the need to communicate and to be entertained, to learn and to be informed, to work and to consume, to escape boredom and solitude.

Through this exhibition, our intention is to gear human attention towards the inside,
to offer people a time for contemplation, recollection, and reconnection with life’s essential state of awareness.

To think efficiently and shape from our ideas acceptable and salutary forms of the future,
we need to take our time to root our presence in the present, to restore our disrupted link with ourselves and our connection with nature.

TAKE YOUR TIME is an invitation to experience and transcend our perception and observation of time.
This art show is a journey through a collection of artworks, installations, and immersive experiences, presented by 38 artists from 12 countries.

From handmade craft objects and paintings from the 19th century to neuro design, AI and virtual reality.
All impacting our mental timeline, within the entangled trilogy of past, present, and future,
which constitutes the permanence and the impermanence of the present. The essence of the now.
